MGA was in Chicago at AMUG 2025 Managing Director Stefanie Brickwede delivered a keynote presentation on the untapped potential of AM in the public transport sector. With a market valued at $550 billion, public transit surpasses aviation in size—yet remains an underexplored opportunity for AM. Showcasing insights from six European railway operators, her talk emphasized how 3D printing is helping to modernize and maintain critical infrastructure.
AM FORUM | March 17-19
This year’s AM Forum in Berlin kicked off in true 1920s style at the iconic Adlon Hotel—celebrating Berlin’s legacy as a hub of innovation. Over two days, the event brought together industry leaders, political voices, and the wider AM community to discuss the future of additive manufacturing. Highlights included a powerful panel on public transport, the inspiring Women in AM luncheon, and the kickoff of our Railiability Working Group meeting focused on liability in urban mobility. Berlin continues to shine as the AM capital of the 2020s!
EIC Summit 2025
With over 1,400 attendees, 115 speakers, and 24 workshops, the EIC Summit provided a vibrant platform for innovators and policymakers to exchange insights. MGA was proud to participate in discussions around funding, breakthrough tech, and the role of AM in shaping Europe’s innovation landscape.
Lifestyle Working Group Kick-Off | March 19
We officially launched the Lifestyle Working Group with an inspiring kick-off session. Focused on AM applications in architecture, interior design, fashion, and sport, the event featured thought-provoking contributions from Arthur Mamou-Mani, Cindy Valdez, and Christoph Völcker. The conversations reflected the group’s immense creative potential and commitment to shaping the future of lifestyle industries through AM. The next meeting will be on June 3, 2025
Weltsaal & German Foreign Ministry Participation
MGA’s Naomi Nathan took part in insightful policy discussions at the Weltsaal and German Foreign Ministry. Topics included navigating EU regulatory pathways (MDR/IVDR), enhancing EU competitiveness, and strengthening partnerships with the Global South. The role of 3D printing in improving healthcare access was a key theme—with a call to increase awareness and drive implementation across borders.
Global Disability Summit 2025
This landmark event gathered 3,000+ global participants and high-level speakers including UN leaders and heads of state. MGA contributed to discussions on assistive technologies and the critical role 3D printing can play in enabling independent living for people with disabilities. With the right political support and partnerships, AM can deliver high-quality, affordable solutions for inclusive healthcare systems.
NCAM 2025 | Stavanger, Norway
At NCAM 2025, MGA’s healthcare session emphasized “CollaborAction” as a path to realizing the full potential of AM in medical applications. Norwegian experts from sectors including maritime, construction, defense, and energy also showcased how AM is transforming their industries. A highlight was Equinor’s collaborative approach to building an AM center of excellence.
AM Village at the Belgian Defense Logistics School | March 2025
MGA participated in the AMVillage 2025, hosted by the European Defence Agency (EDA). Held at the Belgian Defense Logistics School in Tournai, the event allowed around 400 participants—including EU, UK, US, and Ukrainian military forces—to explore practical applications of AM such as spare parts production and battle damage repair. The hands-on format fostered real-time demonstrations and exchange between defense experts, AM specialists, and policymakers. The upcoming European Military Additive Manufacturing Symposium in Bonn (November 2025) will continue these crucial discussions in a more research-focused setting.
MGA x VDI Student Competition | CTC Airbus Stade
Uniting 17 interdisciplinary teams from Germany, Poland, and Switzerland, the competition challenged students to develop innovative mobile rescue systems using 3D printing. The energy and creativity on display was remarkable—highlighted by night-long prototyping sessions, cross-disciplinary teamwork, and impactful final pitches.
🏆 The project “Avaloon” from TU Dresden took first place, while a special Design Award recognized originality and aesthetic vision. The event underscored the power of AM to inspire the next generation of engineers and changemakers.
Austrial 3D-Printing Forum | Vienna
The Austrian 3D-Printing Forum proved once again to be a key event for the AM community in the region. Held in Vienna, the forum brought together industry leaders, researchers, and innovators to explore the growing range of additive manufacturing applications—from aerospace and defense to public transport. MGA had the pleasure of contributing to the discussion with a presentation on the role of AM in mobility and infrastructure. Highlights included insights from the latest Wohlers Report, shared by Christian Seidel, projecting a steady 20% annual growth in the AM sector. With its focused sessions and active networking opportunities, the forum offered an excellent platform to exchange ideas and strengthen collaborations within Austria’s vibrant AM ecosystem.
