  • Our Tech Journey to Spain: From Barcelona to the Basque Country

As a network, we initiated the German Business Delegation Trip to Spain 2026 and brought it to life with two strong partners — SBS systems for business solutions and the German Chamber of Commerce for Spain (AHK Spain). Over five days in May, we travelled with eight German companies from Additive Manufacturing from Barcelona to San Sebastián. Connecting users, manufacturers, service providers and research institutes across borders is exactly what we are here to do. So, going for a 4th MGA Tech-Journey was a big todo for 2026, and with the MEP from the german ministry of economics, we found the right instrument to fund it. From there it became a team effort: we organised the trip together with SBS and AHK Spain and the backing of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE). AHK Spain deserves a special mention as our partner on the ground, organising the local programme — the venue, the Spanish audience, the introductions and much of the choreography that made the week run so smoothly. Barcelona and San Sebastián

The journey opened in Barcelona, we met with our friends from IAM3DHUB and had it’s highlight on 19 May with a presentation and networking event, where our eight german participants presented their technologies and services to a spanish audience of companies, research institutions and clusters. The afternoon was dedicated to pre-organized individual B2B meetings. Mid-week we moved north to San Sebastián, deep in the industrial heart of the Basque Country, for a further round of meetings, company visits and exchanges with partner of the regional cluster ADDIMAT.

    What we took home

Spain’s industry is genuinely active and ambitious — not a market waiting to be discovered, but one already moving and looking for the right partners. We met ambitious research institutes and a growing layer of AM solution providers, and we met networks working hard to spread the technology into the wider spanish industry. They are open, collaborative and easy to plug into, which turned a week of meetings into the start of several real relationships.

    What comes next

This is exactly the kind of initiative that suits us as a network — and it does not have to stop in Spain. Our ambition is to take the same programme to other countries in the coming years, opening up new markets, partners and business opportunities for our members each time.

Thank you to SBS, AHK Spain, the BMWE, ADDIMAT, IAM3DHUB and everyone in Spain who made us so welcome. We are already looking forward to the next one.

Curious about joining a future delegation? Reach out and tell us where we you want tog go.
