Kick-Off Focus Group: Analyses & Processing

What happens to the residual material having been in contact with an AM process after it has been used? Should it be disposed of or analyzed, to see if it is suitable for a new process with regard to medical devices?

On 23 March 2023 in the time from 2:00 – 5:00 pm we want to have a look at this in the context of our MGA Medical Materials working group and launch the focus group “Analyses & Processing”. Therefore, we would like to invite everyone to an on-site meeting at the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB) in Berlin.

The first goal of this group will be the analysis of re-used materials (independent of polymeric, metallic, or ceramic origin). For this purpose, we want to jointly establish a method panel to obtain results on the suitability of these powders, especially for medical (and other) products. The team leader of this group will be Edson Costa Santos from ZEISS.

For our first Working Group meeting we are looking forward to a keynote by Amelie Victoria Banhart, Senior Project Manager at DIN – Standardization entitled “Current Standards and Projects in AM and how to participate”.

We would be delighted if you would like to support us with your expertise. We are looking forward to a lively participation!

MGA Medical Materials: BYOM Workshop

We all work with numerous materials in medicine, but what exactly do we know about them? And what are the technical and regulatory requirements using them for additive manufacturing?
To close this gap, we are hosting the MGA-exclusive Bring Your Own Material workshop on December 7, 2022 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m – this time in English!

What does the workshop offer?

  • Overview of AM-relevant materials
  • Guided expert rounds on material types
  • Individual and confidential expert consultations
  • Placement and discussion of your own use cases according to BYOM

What do participants bring with them?

  • Ideally a use case from your own environment and/or your own AM-relevant material, that we can inspect together
  • Experience in professional handling of AM-relevant materials for medical devices

What else is important?

  • Venue: Mobility goes Additive e.V., Im Marienpark 22, 12107 Berlin,
  • Organizer: MGA Medical together with Expertants GmbH and Innovative Polymer Compounds (IPC)
  • Cost: €295 (MGA members) / €895 (external) plus VAT.
