  • In 2024, Siemens Mobility and LEHVOSS reached a major milestone in additive manufacturing by introducing LUVOSINT PPS 9268 BK, a flame-retardant material developed over eight years and perfected through three years of rigorous testing. This breakthrough sets a new benchmark for safety and efficiency in rail production while opening opportunities for aerospace and automotive industries.

The path to this achievement was marked by close collaboration and relentless innovation. Guided by insights from the MGA Materials Working Group, both companies worked to meet the strict requirements of railway safety standards. Their efforts culminated in a material certified to the highest level of flame retardancy—EN 45545-2, Level R1 HL3—addressing critical industry needs for reliability and compliance.

What makes LUVOSINT PPS 9268 BK exceptional is its combination of sustainability and performance. As the first SLS powder with this certification, it enables the production of large, complex components without compromising safety. Its properties include 100% reusability for zero waste, ensuring an eco-friendly manufacturing cycle; exceptional dielectric strength, unlocking advanced insulation applications; and cost-effectiveness, outperforming traditional flame-retardant filaments. This innovation is more than a material—it’s a step toward smarter, greener, and more reliable manufacturing.
